A method is provided in which the pulse stretching effects of radiation trapping can be minimized in atomic resonance filter detectors or QLORD filter detectors of the type described in U.S. Patent 292,526. The QLORD detector which consists of two spectral, bandpass filters (10 12), one of each located on either side of a transparent cell (14) containing an atomic vapor (preferably an alkali metal vapor), responds to an incoming pulse in the visible part of the spectrum of light, emitting a pulse of infrared light. If the transparent cell contains atomic (e.g. metallic) vapor only, the infrared light pulse will be stretched because of, resonant trapping within the metal vapor. However in …

Why it's free to use
- Filed November 1, 1990. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended November 1, 2010.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 1, 2012.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
