Abstract From the Canadian patent

The invention relates to a simple sonar system inexpensive and with a high image rate for the detection of objects and the imaging of marine bottoms. It comprises the emission of n successive non correlated codes in a sector having an angular width exactly equal to n times the angular width of the reception sector THETA R the reception antenna continuing to perform evolutions during that time while the first emitted signal has not yet reached the maximum range dmax as well as the reception in the sector of angular width THETA R the echoes from these n codes coming from the n contiguous propagation zones along the reception axis and in the space comprised between 0 and dmax each of them …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed February 16, 1990. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended February 16, 2010.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by February 16, 2012.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
