Innerseal comprising a heat-sealable layer wherein heating, by microwave energy is employed to soften the heat-sealable layer, thereby allowing it to be bonded to the lip of a container. Innerseals of this invention require a layer of polymeric material capable of being heat-sealed to the lip of a container and a layer formed of material capable of absorbing microwave energy, converting that energy to heat and transferring that energy, either directly or indirectly, to the layer of heat-sealable polymeric material.

Why it's free to use
- Filed May 17, 1991. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended May 17, 2011.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 17, 2013.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
