An anti-theft seal for commercial articles having rodlike portions such as spectacles includes a box-like body for containing an electronic indication component. The body has a tab which is constituted by three consecutive elements which are articulated by reducing their cross section so that they can fold back onto the body and define a containment seat for a rod-like element to be secured. A slider engages, in a non-reversible manner a guide which is, rigidly associated with the box-like body; the slider has a mushroom-shaped head which is suitable for inserting by, translatory motion, in a seat of the tab so as to lock it in folded position.

Why it's free to use
- Filed May 10, 1991 and granted February 29, 2000. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended May 10, 2011.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 10, 2013.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
