Abstract From the Canadian patent

CONTINUOUS PREPARATION OF SECONDARY AMINES FROM NITRILES USING COBALT AND ZIRCONIUM (D#80,918-F), Abstract of the Disclosure A method for producing secondary amines particularly fatty, secondary amines such as ditallowamine from fatty nitriles such as tallow, nitrile over a cobalt catalyst promoted with zirconium has been discovered. The catalyst may be supported on kieselguhr or other support. The reaction gives high selectivity of secondary amine over the coproduced primary and tertiary amines. Why it's free to use

  • Filed April 5, 1991. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended April 5, 2011.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by April 5, 2013.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
