Abstract From the Canadian patent

A sewage tank comprising an outer shell of plywood which includes a platform for supporting a toilet pan. An inner lining of a compressible plastics material lines the interior of the outer shell and defines a hollow interior region of variable volume for a bladder for storing sewage. The inner lining accommodates expansion and contraction of the bladder in the event of freezing and thawing of the contents thereof. The contents of the toilet pan are discharged into the bladder, and sewage is discharged from the bladder under pressure through a discharge pipe.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed April 2, 1991 and granted May 27, 1997. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended April 2, 2011.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by April 2, 2013.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
