Abstract From the Canadian patent

A method and a coating for minimizing the temperature increase of a vehicle 10 under illumination by solar radiation 20. The method of the present invention includes the step of determining a first spectrum of wavelengths over which the vehicle 10 emits substantial electromagnetic energy. The method further includes the step of applying a selectively reflective paint coating to the vehicle 10. The applied paint coating substantially absorbs eleatromagnetic energy over the first wavelength spectrum and substantially reflects electromagnetic radiation over a second wavelength spectrum not overlapping the first spectrum.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed March 19, 1991. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended March 19, 2011.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 19, 2013.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
