The present invention is directed to a process for coating the interior surfaces of an orifice in a substrate that forms a slurry fuel injection nozzle. In a specific embodiment the nozzle is part of a, fuel injection system for metering a coal-water slurry into a large medium-speed, multi-cylinder diesel engine. In order to retard erosion of the orifice, the substrate is placed in a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) reaction chamber. A reaction gas is passed into the chamber at a gas temperature below its reaction temperature and is directed through the orifice in the substrate. The gas reaction temperature is a temperature at and above which the reaction gas deposits as a coating and the …

Why it's free to use
- Filed March 14, 1991 and granted November 28, 2000. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended March 14, 2011.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 14, 2013.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
