In the improvement to a locking device of this invention, a slider is mounted for sliding by a card key with tumblers being pushed in the sliding direction by the card key. In addition, since the tumblers are pushed into the slider, the slider does not prevent the card key from sliding. Consequently, unlocking or locking operations can be attained by sliding the card key along the tips of the tumblers without stopping of the card key by a step portion. Therefore the improvement to a locking device of the invention effects smoother unlocking or locking operation than a conventional locking device.

Why it's free to use
- Filed March 7, 1991. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended March 7, 2011.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 7, 2013.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
