The invention relates to pharmaceutical and cosmetic compositions comprising at least one benzisothiazolinone-1dioxide derivative with the formula:, (1) where R1 can be hydrogen, and R2 can be certain generally hydrophobic C8-C20 aliphatic groups or the group: (III), where R5 is aliphatic or else R2 is a saturated or unsaturated C2-C6 group ending in an aromatic nucleus. These compositions can be used to inhibit elastases such as human leucocytic elastase. They may be applied topically as a cosmetic. Many of the benzisothiazolinone-1-dioxide derivative specified as active ingredient in such compositions are novel compounds.

Why it's free to use
- Filed March 6, 1991. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended March 6, 2011.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 6, 2013.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
