An electrotherapeutic device for passing a DC electric current through a living organism by applying a voltage to the living organism is disclosed. A device is provided with a battery with an internal resistance of high impedance of a degree such that the changes in the resistance value of the living organism can be disregarded. By doing so no, excessive flow of current is produced even if the resistance of the living organism fluctuates. The device is safe easy, to handle, and inexpensive. It is particularly suited for use with iontophoresis; a technology by which drugs are administered by means of the passage of electricity.

Why it's free to use
- Filed March 5, 1991 and granted August 14, 2001. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended March 5, 2011.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 5, 2013.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
