Open the CIPO recordAbstract From the Canadian patent
An oxide superconducting layer is formed on a base material of silver, whose single side is coated with MgO or single-crystalline MgO for depositing a Bi2Sr2Ca2Cu3 phase in a crystallographically oriented state by sputtering, CVD or laser ablation, then metal lead or lead oxide is laid thereon by sputtering to obtain a two-layer structure, and the two-layer structure is heat treated in the atmospheric air. Thus, a bismuth oxide superconducting film, which is excellent in crystal orientation as well as denseness and thereby being increased in critical current density, is formed on the base material.

Why it's free to use
- Filed March 4, 1991 and granted November 10, 1998. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended March 4, 2011.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 4, 2013.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
