Abstract From the Canadian patent

A sampled data interpolator includes a linear interpolator coupled in parallel with a nonlinear compensation signal path. The nonlinearly processed signals and the linearly interpolated signals are summed to produce interpolated samples. The nonlinear compensation signal path includes a finite impulse response filter having tap weights conforming to a sinc function and a weighting circuit for scaling filtered samples by a normalized sine function.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed February 21, 1991 and granted October 24, 2000. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended February 21, 2011.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by February 21, 2013.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
