Abstract From the Canadian patent

A process and reactor system for hydrocarbon conversion by primary and secondary reforming; the improvement comprises: (i) reacting a process gas stream of hydrocarbon feed and steam in a first gas heated reactor in the presence of a steam reforming catalyst to a partially primary reformed process gas stream by indirect heat exchange with a moderately hot product gas stream from the shell side of a second gas heated reactor introduced into the shell side of the first gas heated reactor in counter-flow to the reacting process gas stream in the first gas heated reactor; (ii) dividing the partially primary reformed process gas stream from the first gas heated reactor into a first and second …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed January 31, 1991 and granted July 1, 1997. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended January 31, 2011.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by January 31, 2013.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
