Abstract From the Canadian patent

A seat is formed by a strip of flexible material hooked at one end to a pair of rods pivotally joined about a common axle and arranged into an X-shape. The strip is preferably hooked by a folded ledge along the upper edge of the strip. A pair of parallel seams defines a pathway for the upper end of each rod. A user sitting on the strip hooked to the rods standing in an erect position pulls down on the strip and on the rods which form a stable backrest for the user.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed January 29, 1991. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended January 29, 2011.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by January 29, 2013.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
