Abstract From the Canadian patent

The present invention relates to the umbrella cover for use with an umbrella structure having a plurality of umbrella ribs. The cover is comprised of a normally planar cover cloth coupled to the umbrella structure. The cover cloth has a warp extending in a first direction and a weft extending in a second orthogonal direction. The cover cloth has a closed stepped outer contour which defines a plurality of perimeter edges disposed in a parallel relationship with either the warp or the weft. The perimeter edges define a plurality of vertices for respective coupling to end portions of the plurality of umbrella ribs.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed January 24, 1991 and granted May 24, 1994. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended January 24, 2011.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by January 24, 2013.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
