A device for detecting and displaying residual capacity of the battery is disclosed. The device comprises a comparator comparing detection voltages set to predetermined values and open circuit voltage. The device further contains means to compensate the difference of the open circuit voltage and the closed circuit voltage of the battery, thus the device can detect the residual capacity of the battery under the conditions with and without the external load.

Why it's free to use
- Filed January 15, 1991 and granted March 21, 2000. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended January 15, 2011.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by January 15, 2013.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
