Abstract From the Canadian patent

A tire pressure indicator for visual observation of tire pressure including a screw-on cartridge containing a springbiased piston with a movable shield which covers a central indicator pilot when tire pressure is Up to requirements. When pressure is below what it should be, the piston retracts to allow the shield to expose the indicator pilot to the view of an observer, thus serving as a warning that inflation is required. The cartridge is composed of three elements: a screw on base intermediate element and a transparent sealed top cap. A cupshaped vessel is movable in the intermediate and top cap sections in response to a subjacent diaphragm and pressure in the tire.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed January 10, 1991. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended January 10, 2011.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by January 10, 2013.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
