Abstract From the Canadian patent

The present invention provides a method for forming a hydroxyapatite coating film on a substrate which comprises coating a dispersion of flocculated colloids of hydroxyapatite on a substrate and drying. The coating method of this invention does not require heating of the coated substrate to a high temperature and hence can also be applied to a substrate which is easily deteriorated with heat. The coated substrate of this invention has excellent strength and adhesion force and is useful in a variety of fields particularly as implant material, and as an adsorbing and separating agent.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed December 31, 1990 and granted October 1, 2002. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended December 31, 2010.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 31, 2012.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
