Abstract From the Canadian patent

The voltage potential and E-field occurring at the site of a circuit discontinuity (98) is detected in a string of light bulbs (1--R, R+1--N). A signal Vac is applied across the string. Capacitive pickups (90 92) are connected in series to an LCD, annunciator (100). The pickups (90 92) are coupled to the string so as to bridge the discontinuity (98). When the E-field generated by the, discontinuity (98), is above the threshold energy level required by the LCD annunciator (100) the fault condition is indicated to the user.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed May 4, 1990. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended May 4, 2010.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 4, 2012.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
