A method for flow-through assay of Chlamydia includes digesting a sample suspected of containing Chlamydia with Proteinase K and passing the digested sample through a microporous membrane having an anti Chlamydia antibody adjacent an absorbent pad which promotes flow through the membrane by capillary action. Antigen bound to antibody on the membrane may be contacted with a specific anti Chlamydia monoclonal antibody conjugated to an enzyme and washed with a solution containing a chaotropic agent . Passage of a substrate for the enzyme through the membrane causes a detectable colored spot to appear on the membrane if the sample is positive for Chlamydia. The invention includes a reagent test …

Why it's free to use
- Filed November 29, 1990. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended November 29, 2010.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 29, 2012.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
