When electric charges are vibrated back and forth in a conductor the, strongest component of the resulting magnetic field is at right angles to the axis of the vibration. In the state-of-the-art micro-wave technology the strong component, is not used. Instead the projected beam of radiant energy is derived from reflected electric fields. The result is that the projected waves of energy are not coherent and tend to spread or fan-out over distance which limits the signal strength that is available. In my invention, only a selected portion of the magnetic field is used and the electric field is not used except incidently. The projected beam of energy is accomplished by vibrating the charges in …

Why it's free to use
- Filed November 28, 1990. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended November 28, 2010.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 28, 2012.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
