Abstract From the Canadian patent

In overlapping chromosome fragments to physical map chromosomes it is most desirable to have a single method which combines simplicity, precision, speed and reproducibility, and produces long contiguous stretches of ordered DNA. Until now there was no method available that meets these criteria. In this invention a "3rd, generation mapping method", which uses a strategy based on a modular contig building procedure and a "vector-cloning siteimplant", all the above desirable criteria are met. In this method unique "fragment ends" copied by the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) using two pairs of primers, from uniformily sized fragments produced by complete digestion of chromosomes with selected …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed November 27, 1990. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended November 27, 2010.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 27, 2012.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
