RD-19,839, FLAME RETARDANT AROMATIC POLYESTER MOLDING COMPOSITIONS HAVING REDUCED, DRIPPING TENDENCIES UPON BURNING Abstract of the Disclosure, Aromatic polyesters such as polybutylene-, terephthalate, have been found to have a reduced tendency to drip during burning, if an effective amount of a polyhydroorganosiloxane is incorporated into the polyester. A further enhancement in the non-drip behavior is achieved by the addition of an effective amount of a transition metal oxide, such as a platinum oxide, or by the modification of the polyhydroorganosiloxane with an aliphatic alcohol such as benzyl alcohol in the presence of a catalytic amount of an alkali metal alkoxide.

Why it's free to use
- Filed November 22, 1990. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended November 22, 2010.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 22, 2012.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
