Abstract From the Canadian patent

A control system for controlling hydraulic pressure in a dual pass continuously variable transmission includes a pump to provide primary and secondary hydraulic pressures for regulating the pulley ratio and belt tension. A minicomputer regulates the primary and secondary pressures, and a transition mechanism alternates the paths of the primary and secondary pressures between first and second pulleys of the transmission o that the primary pressure is fed to the drive pulley and the secondary pressure is fed to the driven pulley.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed November 15, 1990. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended November 15, 2010.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 15, 2012.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
