Abstract From the Canadian patent

The present plate (1) can be placed over a conventional gas burner (3) and is shaped in such a way as to converge the fumes generated by the flame to the centre of the cooking area so that it is possible to take advantage of all the combustion effects and, it is possible to use the fumes generated by the combustion and to take advantage of the high temperature of such fumes. The plate prevents food from directly touching the flame during the cooking phases, the cooking efficiency remaining high and the alimentarydietetic values being excellent.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed November 8, 1990. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended November 8, 2010.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 8, 2012.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
