Novel (2S,3S,5R) morpholinols of formula (I) together with the (+-)-(2R*,3R*,5S*) racemates thereof and their, salts, wherein, X is hydrogen alkyl of 1 to 6 carbon atoms, cycloalkyl of 3 to 6 carbon atoms or a group -CH2-X1 where X1 is cycloalkyl of 3 to 6 carbon atoms. The compounds have a variety of uses in human medicine in particular, in the treatment of mental disorders such as depression.
