Device for controlling communication between electronic information cards, such as IC-cards and host computer to be kept in secret. In order to protect the data, various countermeasures have been proposed in which the data are enciphered to be sent and deciphered for reading out. There is a problem, however, the cyphograph is cryptographed when it is used for a long time. The invention intends to provide a device having at least two connectors for an IC-card stored with an algorithm for enciphering the data and another IC-card or other IC-cards for making communication with the host computer so as to readily change the first IC-card with a new one storing another algorithm.

Why it's free to use
- Filed October 29, 1990 and granted September 19, 2000. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended October 29, 2010.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 29, 2012.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
