A real-time dynamic holographic image storage device uses four-wave mixing in a pair of photo-refractive crystals (10 14). An, oscillation is produced between the crystals (10 14) which can be, maintained indefinitely after the initial object beam is discontinued. The object beam produces an interference pattern in a first crystal (10) to produce a phase-conjugate object beam which is directed towards the second crystal (14). In the second crystal (14), another interference pattern is created which produces a reconstructed object beam. The reconstructed object beam is directed back towards the first crystal (10). The interference patterns are produced by the interaction of the object and …

Why it's free to use
- Filed March 2, 1990. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended March 2, 2010.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 2, 2012.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
