A fiber optic telecommunication system has master site linked to a plurality of subscriber interface sites by a single pair of optical fibers. Downlink messages are transmitted in a continuous TDM format over a first optical fiber from the master site to subscriber interface sites, and in a burst mode TDMA format over a second optical fiber from the subscriber interface sites to the master site. Each subscriber interface site is coupled to the optical fiber link by way of a multiple fan-out fiber coupling pedestal at a common location on the fiber pair. Why it's free to use
- Filed October 17, 1990 and granted December 30, 1997. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended October 17, 2010.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 17, 2012.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
