An apparatus and method for loosening a seedling or plantlet within the growing cavity of a container. The container is held stationary while a plurality of pins enter the growing cavities from the bottom of the container. The pins move within the cavity a distance sufficient to loosen the plantlet within the cavity but not sufficient to eject the plantlet from the cavity. An ejector is used to eject the loosened plantlet from the cavity.

Why it's free to use
- Filed October 15, 1990. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended October 15, 2010.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 15, 2012.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
