Abstract From the Canadian patent

Pressure sensitive bituminous adhesives are provided which comprise bitumen, oil, an elastomer and silica. These, adhesives are particularly useful as self adherent waterproofing layers, particularly in roofing applications. The presence of silica increases the sag resistance of the adhesives, preventing adhesive from flowing or dripping from the waterproofing layer at the relatively high temperatures encountered in roofing applications. Also provided are waterproofing membranes comprising the inventive adhesive compositions.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed October 12, 1990. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended October 12, 2010.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 12, 2012.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
