The invention features a fishing lure that simulates the natural movements and swimming action of a fish by virtue of articulated fin and body sections that are free to swing back and forth under the action of tidal forces or the play in the fishing line. The simulated movement attracts other fish and induces them to strike at the bait.

Why it's free to use
- Filed August 15, 1990 and granted August 27, 1996. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended August 15, 2010.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by August 15, 2012.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
