An aminophenolic compound can be synthesized by contacting a halo-nitro-phenolic compound such as, 2-chloro-4,6-dinitroresorcinol with a hydrogenating, agent, such as hydrogen and a catalyst, such as palla-, dium-on-carbon in an aqueous solution in the presence of an acid such as phosphoric acid. Reduction in an aqueous medium is safer and more cost-effective than reduction in an organic medium. The acid prevents oxidation of the monomer by oxygen dissolved in the aqueous medium. The process may be used to synthesize aminophenols as, 4,6-diaminoresorcinol. 37,361-F

Why it's free to use
- Filed July 27, 1990. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended July 27, 2010.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by July 27, 2012.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
