Abstract From the Canadian patent

The regulation of the expression of a heterologous gene which codes for a protein of interest in B.subtilis is achieved by the introduction into the microorganism of a plasmid vector containing the gene placed under the control of a strong promoter whose activity is modulated by means of a variation in the temperature by the heat-sensitive repressor of the lambda phage of E.coli. The method enables various heterologous proteins to be synthesised by the culture of strains of B.subtilis with transformations induced by variations in temperature.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed July 27, 1990. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended July 27, 2010.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by July 27, 2012.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
