Abstract From the Canadian patent

A gas spring must be filled with pressurized gas through an opening. This opening must be closed after the filling operation while maintaining the gas pressure within the gas spring. According to this invention the filling, opening is bored by a laser beam while the location of the opening to be bored is confined within a filling chamber. After such laser boring of the opening, pressurized gas is admitted to the filling chamber and flows from the filling chamber into the gas spring. Thereafter the filling opening is, closed again by directing the laser beam against an annular zone surrounding the opening whilst the opening is still in the filling chamber.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed July 13, 1990. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended July 13, 2010.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by July 13, 2012.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
