The chip card is such that at least one stress sensor indicator (C1 C2, C3) is placed on the chip (10), under a known stress condition and is preserved in this condition by a protective coating applied over the chip as long as this coating is not affected. The chip has the capability to measure an electrical value characteristic of the stress and a logic circuit connected to the measurement capability for detecting changes in the stress condition indicating an intrusion on the card.

Why it's free to use
- Filed July 12, 1990 and granted March 31, 1998. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended July 12, 2010.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by July 12, 2012.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
