Abstract From the Canadian patent

The present invention relates to a body coated with at least one double layer Al2O3-TiC. Because the Al2O3-layer in contact with the TiC-layer consists of kappa-Al2O3 or theta- Al2O3 an improved adherence has been obtained. A further improvement.of the properties is obtained if the body after the coating is heat treated fox 0.3-10 hours at 900-1100 °C in protecting gas atmosphere at which initially nucleated kappa- or theta-Al2O3 is transformed to finegrained alpha-Al2O3.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed June 15, 1990 and granted December 11, 2001. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended June 15, 2010.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by June 15, 2012.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
