A recording sheet comprises a substrate and a porous layer of ink absorbent formed directly upon the substrate. The porous layer of ink absorbent consists essentially of pseudo-boehmite and a binder, and the volume of pores with a pore radius exceeding 100 .ANG. in said porous layer is not larger than 0.1 cc/g. The porous layer may have a double layer structure, the overlayer consisting essentially of silica powder. The binder preferably is polyvinyl alcohol and preferably it is present in an amount of from 10 to 50% by weight of the pseudo-boehmite.

Why it's free to use
- Filed May 30, 1990 and granted March 23, 1999. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended May 30, 2010.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 30, 2012.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
