In order to improve the heat stability and handling and, reduce the hydroscopicity of deoxyspergualin hydrochloride it, is put up in crystalline form rather than a lyophilized powder. The crystals are formed by crystallizing a conventionally prepared powder or aqueous syrup of deoxyspergualin by standing in a low humidity atmosphere, possibly in the presence of a water-soluble or water miscible organic solvent.

Why it's free to use
- Filed May 23, 1990 and granted September 3, 1996. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended May 23, 2010.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 23, 2012.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
