Abstract From the Canadian patent

The scrubbing solution has a boiling point above 100°C under atmospheric pressure and is used for gas purification at temperatures from 5 to 70 °C and is thus laden with at least CO2 and H2S. For regeneration the laden scrubbing solution under a pressure of at least 2 bars and at a temperature of at least 60°C is supplied to an expansion zone and is expanded therein A flashed-off, gas which is rich in H2S is withdrawn from the expansion zone. The scrubbing solution from the expansion zone is subjected to a hot regeneration, by which the scrubbing solution at a temperature below its boiling temperature is stripped with an inert gas so that its residual loading is substantially removed. Why it's free to use

  • Filed May 22, 1990 and granted August 8, 2000. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended May 22, 2010.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 22, 2012.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
