Abstract From the Canadian patent

A unique user interface prepared by an application program is customized for each user by mapping a set of original panels for the application program onto another set of new panels selected or designed by the user and then, mapping a set of operators in each original panel onto another set of new operators in each new panel. A user interface provides user with a dialogue manager and a presentation manager for the story of interactive processing in the application. This invention can change the story the presentation and the input method to the system as each user likes.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed May 22, 1990 and granted January 25, 1994. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended May 22, 2010.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 22, 2012.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
