Abstract From the Canadian patent

The present invention provides novel methods for the covalent attachment of a specific binding member to a solid phase through the reaction of a thiolated solid phase and a, specific binding member that is complexed to a heterobifunctional coupling agent. The, resulting immobilized specific binding member can be used in diagnostic binding assays. The invention enables the production of immobilized specific binding members which have, increased sensitivity, specificity and stability while requiring less , specific binding member be used.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed May 2, 1990 and granted September 7, 1999. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended May 2, 2010.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 2, 2012.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
