Abstract From the Canadian patent

The invention relates to a silica compatible with metal cations: zinc tin, strontium and others. The silica of the invention is particularly well suited to the preparation of toothpaste compositions containing the said cations. One preparation process consists in reacting a silicate with an acid producing a silica suspension or gel. An initial curing is carried out at a pH of greater than or equal to 6 and less than or equal to 8.5 followed by a second curing at a pH of less than or equal to 5Ø The silica is separated and submitted to hot-water washing until an aqueous suspension is produced the pH of which measured on a suspension at 20% SiO2 is determined by the following equation: pH = d …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed May 2, 1990 and granted December 29, 1998. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended May 2, 2010.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 2, 2012.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
