A continuous process for preparing perfluoroalkenyl sulfonyl fluorides (I), R f-CF=CF-SO2 F (I) wherein R f is selected from the group consisting of F and a perfluoroalkyl of from 1 to 9 carbon atoms is disclosed, in which a perfluoroalkyl (sulfonyl fluoride) monofluoroacetyl fluoride of formula, R f-CF2-CF(COF)SO2 F (II) is used as the starting product. The starting product is contacted with a reactant selected from the group consisting of the oxides of an element of the Groups IA, IIA, IIB, IIIA and IVA of the Periodic Table of the Elements, and of their mixtures at a, temperature comprised within the range of from 150 to 450°C and the compound (I) is recovered from the reaction effluent.

Why it's free to use
- Filed April 27, 1990 and granted September 14, 1999. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended April 27, 2010.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by April 27, 2012.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
