Abstract From the Canadian patent

To reduce the large number of pixels resulting from camera scanning of objects in which defects features or, differences are to be detected and thus enhance process-, ing speed, larger pixels are generated composed of groups of the smaller pixels, but with the smaller pixel information obtained from scanning conveyed by neighborhood majority binary value monitoring to the larger pixels such that increased data rate is effected through processing the larger pixels without, however loss of defect, feature or difference information contained in the small pixels.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed April 23, 1990 and granted July 31, 2001. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended April 23, 2010.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by April 23, 2012.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
