A toilet bar is provided whose components include from 10 to 70% of a soap, from 0.1 to 3% of a cellulosic polymer, and from 0.1 to 3% of a water-soluble carboxylate polymer. The carboxylate polymer is formed from a mixture of monomers comprising a water-soluble carboxylic containing vinyl monomer and a water-insoluble vinyl monomer, the water-insoluble monomer constituting at least 30 mole % of the polymer. The resulting bars have significantly improved rate of wear.

Why it's free to use
- Filed April 18, 1990 and granted December 6, 1994. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended April 18, 2010.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by April 18, 2012.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
