Abstract From the Canadian patent

The disclosure relates to a method and an apparatus for sterilizing objects by means of a gaseous sterilization agent. In order to ensure efficient contact from the point of view of sterilization between the objects and the gaseous sterilization agent, the ambient pressure of the objects is reduced with a view to evacuating the boundary layer of ambient air most proximal the surfaces of the objects intended for sterilization, whereafter the gaseous sterilization agent is brought into contact with the objects at reduced ambient pressure.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed April 11, 1990 and granted August 18, 1998. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended April 11, 2010.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by April 11, 2012.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
