Abstract From the Canadian patent

A speaker verification system receives input speech from a speaker of unknown identity. The speech (12 14) undergoes, LPC analysis and transformation to maximize separability between true speakers and impostors when compared (16) to reference speech parameters which have been similarly transformed. The transformation incorporated a "inter-class" covariance matrix of successful impostors within a database.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed March 29, 1990 and granted October 30, 2001. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended March 29, 2010.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 29, 2012.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
