Organosilicon compounds containing at least one acylamino-substituted hydrocarbon radical are prepared by reacting an organohydroxysilicon compound containing at least one silicon-bonded hydroxy radical with a base to yield a silanolate. The silanolate is reacted with a cyclic amino-silane compound to form a siloxyalkylamide that is then reacted with an acyl chloride to give the desired product. All reactions can be carried out in a single reaction vessel using a nonaqueous solvent.

Why it's free to use
- Filed March 23, 1990 and granted August 11, 1998. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended March 23, 2010.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 23, 2012.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
